Egypt

That’s all folks…………writer needed!!

19952_1274569398439_1656064171_723189_3964743_nTwo years ago, Being an AS Roma fan, I used to hang out at fans’ groups; one day while I was checking out the discussions, someone put a link to an article published on a website called “the offside”, I found out that it is a blogging site so my curiosity led me to browse it and I found another site for national teams called “World Cup Blog”. I had to check if there is one for Egypt, I did found a blog for Egypt but it was inactive so I thought since I am already in the business of writing and I had some free time to spare, why don’t I write in it and that’s how I started to blog at Egypt WCB.

I consider myself one hell of a lucky blogger because it isn’t everyday that your team wins two consecutive African titles while you are blogging about them; but still there were moments of despair and disappointment.

The best part is that together we went through the highs and lows of Egyptian football and had fun exchanging views, learning from each other and developing friendships and that’s what matters the most, more than football itself.

I was both pleasured and honored to write for such a group of readers and I would like to thank you all (Bahaa, Hany, Hisham, Amir, Momoney, Omar, Dareen, Leila, Ghanim, David, Tony, Osama, Mahmoud, amo……etc and of course Rami, Rachid and Fahd from Tunisia’s blog and Kazi and some other reasonable readers from Algeria’s blog (I don’t want to miss anyone but those are all whom I can remember now.)

I want to thank everybody who has contributed to the discussion here whether in a positive or a negative way (even those who left insults and irresponsible comments contributed to the experience).

I am very sorry that I have to quit the blog but the next 4 months will be my last at college beside my work so I have loads and loads of S*** to do and time will be a scarce commodity beside, we don’t have anything to do for the next 2 years except some friendlies and African Cup qualifications.

But my condolence is that I have left the blog while Egypt has the best ranking ever (10th) after being crowned the champion of Africa and just like old players retire after a big victory giving space for fresh blood to take over and contribute to more achievements, I would like to see a new fresh pen (or should I say keyboard) to offer a new perspective with his/her own new style.

I just hope that I did an acceptable job writing for you. when I started blogging here I was a second year student, now I am a senior year one; my writing was still developing in these two years but I hope that reading what I wrote wasn’t a painful experience for you and I apologize for anyone whom I offended in a way or another.

However, I will be still a faithful reader and will engage in the discussions; I would also love if we stay in touch as friends.

My email is: tamimelyan@hotmail.com and my FB account is Tamim Diaa. It would be my pleasure if we can stay in touch and don’t ever hesitate to shoot me an e-mail or add me on FB.

For those who would like to take over the blog and get the chance to write about Egyptian football for a sizable audience, send an e-mail to Daryl, the site’s manager, at daryl@theoffside.com.

Again thank you all for everything and wish you all the best in your life and the best for Egyptian Football and Egypt.

Farewell.

Robinho's Second Santos Debut, and Neymar's Paradinha Penalty

Robinho didn't disappoint on his second Santos debut, coming off the bench to score a Zola-esque near post flick of a winner vs São Paulo.
