Ahly-Zamalek 2-0: Cairo is red!!
ahly stunned zamalek with 2 goals from new comer Ahmed fathi and emad meteb in Cairo’s derby last night. the game was up to the expectations as the two teams presented good football and produce an interesting game to watch.now Cairo will be red until the next derby or else!!!
as i said before, there is no competition between the two teams so it will be a pure derby and it was. military academy stadium was full with fans, half red and half white all with their flags and banners and chanting their songs.fortunately, there were no misbehavior by the fans as were expected.

streets were empty, every body was infront of the tv watching. both managers were very late in announcing the line-ups!!.
Ahly’s Starting Line-Up: Amir Abdul Hamid (GK), Emad E.Nahas, Shady Mohamed, Ramy Adel, Ahmed Fathi, Mohamed Barakat, Anis Bugilban, Hossam Ashoor, Gilberto, Flavio, Emad Met’eb Subs: Mahmoud Samir, Mohamed Samir, A.Shedid, A.Abdul Moneim, Ahmed Adel, Ahmed Belal
Zamalek’s Starting Line-Up: M. Abdul Monsef (GK), A. Abdul Raouf, Ahmed Magdy, Beshir Tabie, M. Fathallah, Tarek El Sayed, M. Abul’ela, Mohamed Abdallah, M. Ibrahim, Mostafa Gaafar, Amr Zaki Subs: Shikabala, Zenga, Hazem Emam, Osama Hassan, Sherif Ashraf, Gamal Hamza
hums began between zamalek fans after they knew the lineup. what is Ahmed magdy doing in the defense line while he is originally a midfielder and why isn’t shikabala starting!!!. on the other side, ahly fans knew that these players were going to place and that there is no one sitting on the bench better than the starting 11.
The match
First half
the first half started with high pressure from ahly and defense from zamalek. ahly seemed to pass the ball better and control the midfield but zamalek defense was there. it was until the 20th minute that we saw action as amr zaki from zamalek waste he first real chance for zamalek after hitting the ball high which he could made it better than that. it was clear that zamalek was concentrating on the left wing through tarek el sayed. however ahly’s first real response came through emad meteb after a cross from the left by gilberto which emad touched the ball but it went wide. 5 minutes before the end gaafar from zamalek was completely infront of goal but he wasted it in a bizzare way. there were no further chances and Italian referee farina whistled for the end of the first half
Second half
zamalek made 2 substitutions with Mohamed Ibrahim and gaafar out and shikabala and gamal hamza in. this half started in a balanced way with two teams exchanging attacks. in the 65th minute, gamal hamza was in a one-on-one situation and tried to dribble through the keeper and was pushed but the referee whistled for simulation and gave hamza a yellow card.ahly’s goal keeper amir abd el hamid refused to comment on the incident later. 2 minutes after the incident flavio shot the ball to hit one zamalek’s defender to find Ahmed fathi infront of goal who chipped it over abd el monsef to score the first for ahly. after the goal zamalek pressured for an equalizer but ahly regained control. it was minute 73, beshir el tabbei from zamalek made a childish silly mistake as he was trying to head the ball back to abd el monsef but the ball was short and emad meteb snatched it and scored his first goal since very looooooooooong time!!
conclusion
both teams had real chances infront of goal but who wastes easy chances eventually lose the game and that’s what happened. ahly made use of luck and defense mistakes to score his 2 goals.
