Algeria 3 – Egypt 1: sudden breakdown!!
It’s pretty much amazing what can happen during the half time break and how things can turn upside down; you enter the tunnel after you have done a great job during the first half, controlled the game against an opponent who played in front of his very excited fans, made a couple of very dangerous chances, prevented the opponent from threatening your goal and your fans are thinking about the second half and the goal you deserve and will score.
However, as if it was another team, everything collapsed; defense broke down, midfield lost control, attack lost sharpness on goal and worst of all, your keeper forgot abc of goalkeeping!!!
This is exactly what happened in Algeria’s match; I have been trying to figure out what happened; surely it wasn’t the Algerian team bouncing back to the game, it was something in our team that seemed wrong maybe they forgot the plan, maybe their fitness didn’t help, maybe they needed tactical intervention form outside the field…..etc
Whatever the reasons, the end result was shameful; especially against an average Algerian team who we could have beaten easily if we were in form but sadly we weren’t and they won.
Player ratings
El Hadary: bad positioning, poor reflexes, lack of concentration, hesitation, helplessness…….may the old Hadary return!!!
Wael Gomaa: since Oman’s game and I had concerns about his form, terrible in one on one situations and was dribbled through a lot, very slow against attackers and actually no man marking at all in the second half
Hani Said: great game in the first half, swept the area from any dangerous balls; however in the second half, disappeared and advanced a lot to midfield and couldn’t cover for defenders” mistakes!!
Oka: can’t blame him first official international game, played a great game in the first half but lack of experience cost him a lot in the second; promising player though.
Ahmed Fathy: played good in defense in the first half but couldn’t support in attack and failed to make a decent cross; in the second half total failure both in defense and offense
Sayed Moawad: impressive game, one of the best players of the match, dribbled through Algerian defense many times and played good in defense too, gave his best and played with heart unlike other players; welcome back Sayed
Hosni Abd Raboh: great first half, terrible second half; I wonder what was he doing in the first goal!!
Shawky: putting in mind that he doesn’t play at all with his club, not a bad performance however he could have done better in the second half if he took things more seriously.
Abu Treika: best player in the Egyptian team during the game, ran, dribbled, shot on goal, tried and scored but he could have done better in some balls by passing it to colleagues
Zidan: not a bad game but he lacked support from other strikers; like the rest of the team he made a terrible second half
Zaki: no comment!!!
one last thing about the match, some say that we are an aging team and the players are too old; in fact, our average is higher than Algeria only with one year so this isn’t an excuse.
The match is over, we lost but we didn’t lose the chance to qualify; still we have four matches to win isa and Algeria and Zambia will be going head to head, if each could win a match against the other or draw in both then we all will be equal and it will be up to us to beat them in Zambia and in Cairo after of course getting six points from Rwanda, hopefully.
I said before, the Algerian team is inconsistent, they are impressive in one game then they are shit I the next; they played against us as if it was the end of the world, probably gave the best they can and we now can wait and see what will they do against Zambia.
Just one comment left.
The president of Algerian football federation said that he want an equal reception in Egypt as the “warm” reception we received in Algeria!!!
If you call bad food that caused our technical staff to suffer from diarrhea to miss the last training session and sent one player to the hospital, fans singing in front of the hotel with car horns at the night of the match in front of the players’ hotel, jeering the Egyptian national anthem as if they were playing against an enemy, tons of insults to Egypt and Egyptians, flares that formed a cloud of smoke that we could barely see the match, booing every time we get the ball as if we were anything but a “brother” team; you call all that a warm reception…..then be sure you will get a warmer one in Cairo.
Look what they did in front of the hotel before the match!!!
Before some people get me wrong, I am not giving excuses we were bad and we deserved to lose in the second half but I was just commenting on what he said.
So life goes on and so do we; we have the confederations cup to look up to, I know our opponents are very tough but we can do our best to erase the picture of Algeria’s game.
I am as sad as all of you but we shouldn’t add insult to injury for our players, we should support them, that’s what supporters do, especially that our game against Brazil is on Monday.
Btw, I am going to do a series of posts to preview the teams in our group but I am going on a 3 days vacation to Alexandria right after the exams so once I mange an internet connection they will be up.
That’s all for now

i hope that we will reach the world cup and win. inchallah our team will do the best and bring the cup until the enemy will be die. vive l’argerie forever. and i hope that the god will make from us the heroes in the world and in the muslims in this century and others

@Nabil, too bad, what you’re saying now just proves that you have no idea what “competition” means. Back to the match, I mean some of the players suffered diarrhea because of food poisoning, I’m not saying that is was a result of an intentional act, but is it a coincidence? Also don’t boast out too much about the next match, its still in November also we played a good match against Brazil and made them respect us, which just proves that Egypt is a good team and powerful.

@Egyptian.
Food poisoning you said ? LOL
This would have to be the most ridiculous excuse I have ever heard. If you suffered from food poisoning, why didn’t you file a complaint with FIFA and have the matter investigated ?
The reason why you didn’t is because the allegation is baseless as baseless as the way you play soccer when you meet Algeria.
Food poisoning, dhiarrea, hostile crowd, etc, etc. Excuses, excuses. You should spend less time finding excuses for your losses and more time trying to fix the problems your team always experience when meeting a team from North Africa

Food that caused your technical staff to suffer from diarrhea!!!! hasha we’ve got the best food in the world, thx god we don’t have the deseases that some countries do!!
and after all i think the Diarrhea is because they got scared from us ( derbetkoum lboulga) with all my respect to every one

are you algerians still talking about this match!!!!!!
get a life!!!

Tamim,
It’s because they cant believe that they beat us. Its such an achievement to them. That’s why they’re still engrossed in the moment.

Sherif :
We can’t believe that we beat you ??? What is there to believe ?
We beat you 7 times in our last 10 meetings.
We are soooo used to beat you that it is expected of us.
Posted from
United States

WOW, ya sherif, how can you argue with them, don’t you know that they are the mighty algeria, the best football team on earth, the champions of all times, they have the best players in the world who play in real madrid, barcelona, manchester, milan….etc. they have the most attractive football, they have the best league, the never make troubles and fair play is their moto and that they are too powerful for us, poor us we are very weak, we don’t win anything and brazil just demolished us and we are always losers!!!; don’t you know that?!!
easy now

- What did Algeria do in the last 2 african cup of nations… oh wait they didn’t qualify.
- Remind me how many times have you won the cup of nations… what’s that? only once? 1*6 = 6 times which is how much better we are than Algeria.
- Algeria beat Germany and we didn’t beat any worldclass teams ever… oh wait we just defeated Italy (yes they are stronger than Germany, 4 world cups), not to mention we outplayed Brazil.
- 7-3 head-to-head and where has that taken you? 66th on the world next to us 40th, and best ever 30th and us best ever 16th… We are better than you statistically, numerically and November will prove my words. No chance for Algeria in that match.
one last thing to add, you say Aichou, I say TAREK EL SAEED

And we don’t want or need your support in the confederations cup. I used to like Algerians before that match but it proved to me you have more idiots than sane people over there… It’s as if they won the world-cup, maybe that’s what it feels like when you defeat a much stronger team.
Going back to the match, first half was very much balanced, we were abit better since we had shots on goal, where we didn’t say Hadary’s name once. Second half, Matmour scored that fluke which deflected off Gomaa’s leg, and they took control afterwards, not because they are good but because Egyptian players for some reason lost hope of scoring a goal, eventhough AbuTreka showed how easy it is to score against them. Want me to give your side some compliments? No I’m not gonna be a hypocrite and say Bougherra had Zaki in his pocket because Bougherra is good but because Zaki played 15 minutes only since the Zambia match, god knows what he was doing on the pitch. Ziani was nowhere to be seen before the goal, Moawad gave him a very tough time on the right. Belhadj was the only bright spot but even he felt frustrated after a while by Fathy and had to kick him to stop him from starting an Egyptian attack (typical north african player). Algeria won’t qualify simply because they don’t play all matches like it was against Egypt. I saw them against Rwanda and they were pathetic, and I expect more of the same against Zambia. Egypt’s return to form is gonna make the group fear them once again and this will be our ticket to the WC Insha2allah…

It’s good to be competitive and nothing wrong in supporting your team but it’s sad to see very poor level of conversation between some of the Algerians and Egyptians. Is it because we are Arabs or because we come from underdeveloped Countries that we behave in such manner ?
I am Algerian and I was so proud at Egypt performance against Brazil.
I was so ecstatic at Egypt’s win against Italy.
Go go go Egypt

To Egypt :
Bla bla bla bla bla ! So you beat Italy ? What did that get you ? Oh wait ! NOTHING. You still have to beat Brazil to get a chance to make it to the semi finals. That won’t happen. You know as well as I do.
Yeah you can beat Italy. Bla bla bla
Yeah you can mess with Brazil. Bla bla bla
But against Algeria, you lose. That’s the nature of things and there is nothing you can do about it. The same silly arguments you presented could be used against Egypt.
What has Egypt achieved in soccer beyondthe african level ?
The answer is NOTHING. WALOU.
Did Egypt win a World Cup ? No and IT NEVER WILL
Get over it people. Algeria won and you lost
After 7 losses, one would think you would get used to the idea that winning against Algeria is like watching a science fiction movie. In other words, you’re dreaming.
Wake up, the breakfast is ready. Let’s see if you will scream “FOOD POISONING” again.
He he he, these egyptians crack me up. Wellah

To “Nabil”:
We beat Italy (the world champions!)
We have to beat USA next (not Brazil), and after beating Italy and nearly getting something out of Brazil, I really think we have achance of making it through.
Youre an idiot! like most Algerians dancing and breaking things when going mental over beating Egypt for once in a good while, you done understand that there is also a second leg that has to be played in CAIRO (LOL), and that you still have to play Zambia, and we have to play Rwanda (who you drew with), so theres still a good chance we could make it into the world cup.
As for your result against Egypt… we were on very poor form, you disturbed the Egyptian players when they were trying to sleep at 12am before the game, you created fire and smoked the pitch up, i could hardly see anything, let alone what the players saw… YOU WERE AT HOME – DONT YOU GET IT.
And as for the very “warm” welcome you supplied us in Blida, we WILL make it our mission to give you a much warmer one in Cairo, inshallah.
Youre a complete disgrace taking everything so seriously, and treating us like enemies, because you will be on the other end of it soon and will feel the full force of the Egyptians next time. It will come as a Hay-Maker knocking the daylights out of your world cup dreams…. i hope that clears things up a little for your french raped behinds.

To Noah :
No, I am not an idiot. Far from it
I am willing to bet anything you want that I am doing much better that you ever will. I am not going to insult you in return. I would only be LOWERING MYSELF TO YOUR LEVEL.
Do you read greek philosophy ? If you do (which I doubt), you may have read about the greek philosopher who once said, I quote :
” WHEN THE ARGUMENT IS LOST, INSULT BECOMES THE FAVORITE TOOL OF THE LOSER ”
I will let you digest that and please don’t scream ” FOOOOOD POISONING ” again. The whole world laughed at you when you tried to use that excuse to justify your sorry performance against Algeria.
Who cares whether you played the game in Algeria ? We beat you in Tunisia, didn’t we ? Your press was soooo arrogant before the game that it was convinced Egypt would crush Algeria anywhere.
My response to that ? Keep dreaming, Egypt.
Algeria is here to remind you that as long as there is a team called Algeria, second best is as far as you will ever go.
One, Two, Three. Viva l’Algerie ! ! !

To Noah :
One more thing.
We will soon feel the full force of the egyptians, you said ?
Wooooooooo ! We’re soooo scared. We’re shaking all over
Let me ask you this, Einstein. Where was the full force of the egyptians when our players were piercing your defense with holes so big a russian tank could go through ?
Where was it then ? It was nowhere to be found.
Oooops, I forgot ! It was the victim of FOOD POISONING.
I can’t get over that one. Funny as hell

Is there something wrong with you? you speak like a mentally retarded patient. You dont make any sense, and you havent really answered my question, your replies are somewhat childish, but i cant really blame you – i think we have already seen that your whole country acts the same (the rioting all over the world, just beacuse of a win over Egypt, which mark my words will never happen again).
It wasnt us who were insulting your players, it wasnt us that were insulting your country (to start with). So, according to your theory of the “Greek phillospher” (which no-one really cares about…), doesnt that make you the immature ones, and that were the ones who are not supposed to “lower dont to your level” – You ARE an idiot, theres no doubt in my mind (you can let yourself off the hook and admit that youre around 5 years old)
Again, your stupidity has shone through, as you have failed to understand what i am saying. I said you WILL feel the full force of the Egyptians, not you HAVE (although you really have when we beat you 5-2, an emphatic victory, which can never be repeated by Algeria). Our players were off form, we had a goal disallowed offside, when Zaki was actually onside… that would have made it 1-0 to Egypt consequently, wouldnt that have changed the outcome a little?
Be sure that we will give you a VERY “warm” welcome, and if a few of your fans come over, you should be scared, because you will be raped as you were by the French, however this time it will be the Egyptians who rape you (metaphorically ofcourse)- in other words be quite prepared for your welcome onto Egyptian soil.
Speaking of “funny”, i think this is quite “funny” (dont think you will quite agree with me though), The French recruited your men to fight in the Great war against the Nazis, promising them fame, high ranks and freedom of passage into France, you believed them! They sent you alone into Alcais to hold off a German brigade, most of you died fighting for the French, the survivors werent rewarded, not even did they get any credit, a French brigade came along and claimed the victory. Your women were raped, your fathers racially abused and killed… How “funny” is that? my north african brother.
“Desert Foxes” (LOL) you sound like a bunch of vermin that will soon be exterminated by Egypt.
How many times have you won the ACN? (once)

noah, there is no point arguing with them, so let them say what they want and turn a deaf ear to it.
sebhom yetala3o el kabt elly 3andohom shwya la7san yta2o wala 7aga

To Noah :
No, I do not speak like a mentally retarded patient. On the contrary.
You should blame your failure to understand what I am trying to say to you on your blatant and sorry lack of COMMON SENSE
Hey, Noah ! I am here to make you swallow another bone. Are you ready ?
Open your mouth and swallow this :
ALGERIA : 2 ZAMBIA : 0
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ! ! ! ! !
VIVA ALGERIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !
WE WOOOOOOOOOOOON ! ! ! WE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOON ! ! !
That same team you couldn’t defeat at home has just taken a beating from us
Swallow that, Noah ! Chew on that.
I know it is killing you deep inside and I am enjoying every minute of it.
To be algerian is not a fact. It is a privilege
God bless Algeria. God bless the algerian people.

To Noah :
This is me again. I would like to add one more thing before I go celebrate another algerian victory.
I say this to you : Egypt will not go to the World Cup. Period. End of the discussion.
Go ahead and scream all day if you want. It will not change the fact that you will not go to the World Cup.
Insulting the algerian people and reminding us how our women were raped during the war will not change anything. It will just show to the whole world what an IGNORANT individual you are.
Shame on you and you dare call me a brother ?
I am not your brother. Never have been and never will be
Egyptians are not that perfect either. I could share with this audience some of the dark pages of egyptian society but I refuse to do so.
Why ? Because I am a gentleman and I refuse to LOWER MYSELF TO YOUR LEVEL, ya Noah.

To Nabil, Noah and everybody else
FIFA Fair Play
The generic concept of fair play is a fundamental part of the game of football. It represents the positive benefits of playing by the rules, using common sense and respecting fellow players, referees, opponents and fans.
The Fair Play Campaign was conceived largely as an indirect result of the 1986 FIFA World Cup™ in Mexico, when the handball goal by Diego Maradona stimulated the admirable reaction of the England coach, Sir Bobby Robson. Since then, the campaign has had with the unconditional support of former FIFA President João Havelange and current President Joseph S. Blatter.
To give fair play more visibility, FIFA created a programme that turned the generic notion into a simple design and an easy to understand code of conduct that could be recognised and respected by players and fans alike.
Fair Play has a fundamental role in sport and there is a need to apply it to all sporting activities, especially children’s activities. Children need strong values to grow up with, and football, being a team sport, makes them realise how essential discipline, respect, team spirit and fair play are for the game and for life.
FIFA’s Fair Play Campaign is represented by the slogan “My Game is Fair Play”.

Dear writer,
Algeria team has beaten Zambia 2-0 and played against Egypt like kings. You have to admit it my friend.
The video you shwon above in front of hotel is our way of celebrating and be excited. People dansing, it is not for you nation of danse and sing to be shocked at seeing people danse in streets
Our team played against Egypt 16 times, we won 6 times, we lost 5 times, and drew 5 times.
You are very rightr we are not consistent, because we are country of fighters and warriors. We fight with heart and determination. Egyptian team, being african champions and having Hassan Hosseim beat referees and insult public is certainly a best thing he did. He determined us to play to death and show you on the field what it is to insult us !
Besides this, don’t forget we are brother nations, we fought with you for 6 days and you supported us in the war. These things we will never forget, not today, not tomorrow not in a centry of time

Dear Noah,
You are mixing things up talking about rape and second world war. Please don’t mix history with football.
There is nothing to laugh about women rape. I do not wish your sister, daughter or mother be raped someday, you will weigh more your words …
Thanks god, algerian people have met real egyptians and “not second hand egyptians “like you Noah are together with Hossam Hassan. Disprespectful and insulting to the rest of your population who is educated and has been example for arab nations for many years
Now back to football, I hope you cannot justify 3-0 loss against USA by food poisonning, please find some other reason.
I respect egyptian team, they are very strong and wish them success
