Egypt 1 – Italy(+1) 0: Homos, El Hadary crowned new caesars of Rome
The Italian sorpresa was replaced with an Egyptian one; Italian catenaccio was played with perfection by the Egyptian players, the army of Italian strikers couldn’t pass through the Egyptian defenders or at least score, Shehata masterminded the game leaving Lippi helpless; I guess Cleopatra has something to show off in front of Caesar!!
It is very interesting and amazing how Hassan Shehata can adapt his team to the opponent’s style of playing, with brazil he played open, short passes game mixed with individual talent which is how brazil originally plays and against Italy, he played the tactical, defensive and counter attack game that Italy is famous of. This reflects the high capabilities and diversity of his players that enables them to change their style more than one time during the game control the play and impose their tactics on opponents.
First we score three goals in Brazil in an unprecedented event since 2005 and the first during Dunga’s reign, then we are the first African team to beat Italy in a match organized by FIFA (Zambia achieved a 4-0 victory over them in an Olympic Games tournament) and still more surprises are on the way hopefully, this guy from the commercial proved himself right again!!!
Yesterday, unfortunately, we didn’t play against 11 players from Italy only, we played against the referee who was obviously biased and didn’t miss any chance to give our players yellow cards for the most ridiculous reasons; on the other hand, he turned a blind eye on many serious fouls against our players that deserved yellow cards and he gave 5 minutes additional time, I am sure if he could add more he would have done it; really no comment on this referee!!!
Back to the game, Shehata always give me a surprise in his line up, Every time he does something unexpected and it works, first he introduces Oka and he succeeds, then he plays with Ahmed Eid in brazil’s game and he excels, then he starts with homos, his first official international game I guess, and he scores the winner; this man has a good eye.
Homos’s half
As usual we entered afraid of the Italian names and bit by bit we gained confidence and started to exchange attacks on Italy and never let control over the midfield slip from our hands and the trio Shawky- Hosni – Homos made sure tat we did just that; even more, they did a great job preventing Rossi, De Rossi and Pirlo from firing from distance and when they did, there was El Hadary to prevent it.
Speaking about el hadary, this guy is pure class, his tears after the match were very touching; the man was under huge pressure and continuous criticism even after brazil’s match and this match was his new birth certificate, I noticed that people were amazed from El Hadary’s saves but those who followed him during 2006 and 2008 would have known that this is his ordinary form; welcome back Hadary!!
After the goal, the Italians were surprised as it came against the flow of play and doubled their efforts to equalize before the end of the first half but they were met with a solid defense from Oka, Gomaa and Hani Said, almost perfect in their positioning and man marking

El hadary’s half
Italians began to really pressure our players in their half of the field and Lippi’s substitutions were all aimed at scoring sending three strikers added to the trio of Quagliarella, Rossi and Iaquinta.
And he mainly succeeded in putting the Egyptian team under pressure and created real dangerous chances but they were all blocked by a solid goalkeeping from El Hadary leaving the Italian players frustrated, especially Iaquinta.
If it wasn’t for him we would have conceded 3 goals at least; on the other hand, after Zidan’s injury and Abel Malek entrance, we threatened Buffon more than once through counter attacks but as the end of the match was getting closer, players were tired physically and mentally and couldn’t turn the chances they had into goals.
This sparks the question of the importance of psychologist among the staff to prepare the players mentally to endure such circumstances; our problem proved to be psychological rather than technical!!
Highlights
What’s next?
Our next match against USA will be a decisive and crucial one, we need the 3 points to advance to the next round and we need a score to finish first in the group and avoid Spain and play either with Iraq or South Africa.
The most important thing is to keep focused and concentrated and stay away from arrogance and over confidence; with all what we have done till now, we have achieved nothing yet because if we don’t play in the semis all our efforts will be forgotten with time and will be considered some exceptional heroic performance from the Egyptians.
I guess we need to convince and mark our presence; to do that; we need to be professional in our mentality and dealing with matches and take every match as seriously as a final match.
Good luck for our players in the next matche(s) isa
thanks Rami very much and good luck against nigeria.
thanks for the info, corrected now
zambia 0 – algeria 2, not the best result, now we have to win all matches with the highest possible score!!!
shit inshallah we can do it
Algeria has 2 more (relatively easy) games at home against Rwanda and Zambia and one tough game in Cairo. Egypt now has their backs against the wall with no choice but to win all games. I was surprised by Zambia’s performance today, but congratulations to Algeria for obtaining a convincing win. Zambia came close to equalizing and about 30 seconds later Algeria scored their second goal. Good luck to Morocco against Togo, to Sudan against Ghana, and my dear Tunisia against Nigeria!!!
i think that the Zambians can draw in Algeria. But i have a strong feeling that the Algerians wouldn’t keep up such a good performance the only reason they were good was that they were still recharged from that Egypt match. And Algeria will begin to think that they are the best and get cocky. So Egypt should have learned from the past mistakes to undermine any opponents and if we play like we have been so far we will reach.ISA.And don’t forget that the Zambians and Rwanda people are probably scared shitless of Egypt which we can take to our advantage and score early goals. ISA Egypt will go to South Africa again in 2010 and they’ll even make it to the quarterfinals in the WC. maybe im being to optimistic, but Egypt with the will they have can make it

Algeria won… wow! lol @ zambians who thought they will beat Egypt and Algeria to the WC. Now they can forget about it. It is between Egypt and Algeria now and I will be glad if any of them will qualify. Will be more happy for Egypt of course
@Darren
Its easy to say Algerians will get cocky. Its exactly one the reasons Egypt lost to ALgeria, and draw to Zambia.
By the way the next game, Hassan Yebda from Benfica and Mourad Meghni from Lazio will probably be on the pitch. So Algeria is growing stronger and stronger. What Algerians lacked all these years was organization and professionalism of the football associations and clubs. So good luck to everyone, and may the best team win.

Congrats to Egypt for beating
Italy.Egypt is very underrated. I have watched most of Brasil’s games and have not seen a team expose their weakness for a very long time. I hope you get a result against USA so that your wonderful team can play Spain in the semi final. Please can someone explain why most of the Egyptians players still play at home. It would be a real waste if Egypt do not qualify for 2010. How did you lose to Algeria ? Is Algeria that good? Please step your performances so that you qualify and do yourself justice. This team can achieve a lot more.

Hey guys,
It seems like some of the Egypt players, did not learn discipline yet.
http://www.sundayworld.co.za/Home/Article.aspx?id=1021106
I guess some people never learn. I find it quite hypocritical to seem them bow to God after a goal and when the night comes some of them go get prostitutes.
At the end, if you guys do not make it, don’t blame the ref, the algerians or anyone else please.

now this is too much, i can’t take it anymore from those algerians.
adnane you are making a very dangerous accusations and your source is very weak, i have never heard of this sundayworld, all the players are well known for their displine mido and zaki aren’t with the team beside all of them are married. even if i assume that this is true, egyptian journalists would be the first to report it and attack them. this is a stupid lie made by the south africans, with all due respect, to cover for their failure to provide security for the team.
i am sick of this, first you attack egypt the country and mock egyptian people, then you make fun of our players and you made them play in a hostile atmosphere and the fifa is going to punish you for it and now you are questioning their religion; isalmic wise, no one can say that someone does something religious just to show off, it is forbidden.
you can only dream of having such displined players.
enough is enough, if any algerian come here and post such stupid comments, i will delete it.
Tamim,
APPARENTLY there is a video that shows the prostitute going from rooms to rooms.

Now what you say about the egyptian press is hilarious. Its pure and complete BS. As if there was freedom of press there. South Africa has many human rights problem, but they are far from you guys.
When did I attack the country ? and the people ? Maybe you are a bit immature to admit what I say.
And its not because your guys are married that they do not cheat. Are you so naive ? Or maybe its because they are egyptians and egyptians are known all over the world as pure and morally superior.
You guys have 4-5 players in europe and half of them have major behaviors problem. Yet you brag about it.

your links are pathetic, they are all copying from this unknown paper called sunday world and in the afp story police declined to confirm th story and they only quoted the paper so it is more of the same.
“isalmic wise, no one can say that someone does something religious just to show off, it is forbidden.”
why didn’t you reply to this
second, they couldn’t do something like this because there were cameras of tv channels inside the bus following them and if something like that happened, they would have at least noticed
this team is very displined and religious with the confirmation of all those who saw them, egyptians and non egyptians and you can read the sunday world and convince yourself otherwise
second, you talk about press freedom and human rights; what does this have to do with football and by the way they are miles better than algeria
fuck u we egyptians don’t do things like this u ass whole wa are not like u canadians so go kiss ur mamas whiote ass and again fucku u they are alla married the true thing is that this gay guys in south africa are all thief
Tamim,
I do not discuss islam because I know that egyptian people like you are morally pure and integrity is the most important values for them. I believe everything you say, and I know you are right.
In case you do not know how to read, I said the word apparently, but considering the visceral reactions of yours, and the bluntly disturbing and animalistic reaction of sawy, I tend to believe in it.
Now do not tell me your team is this and that. There is undisciplined bastard in every teams. Amr Zaki for example has receives so much financial penalities , he could have instead taken the money and open a school in a poor region of Egypt instead. So whether or not people are religious is not an argument. I see regularly people praying and showing to the world how religious they are, but on closed door they do the worst thing human can do. Saudi Arabia for example has the highest rate of incest in the world.
concerning your press comments, I was just following what you said about the Egyptian press, everyone in Africa believes that many Egyptians (NOT ALL of course) are slightly (hum hum) arrogant and have some sort of strong incapacity of retrospection. Your press is a disaster. Many bloggers, and journalist in prisons. Algeria in comparison has one of the most free press in the arab world. But I agree, we are pretty miserable as well when it comes to that.
By the way can you show the video of Egypt loss to USA. I mean a team grows out of defeat and victories. And I am sure if you guys study impartially how you took the goals you might improve your game against Rwanda, Zambia and Algeria. So please leave the shame aside…

sawy we say ass hole not… ass whole… the w changes slightly the meaning.
And thank you for convincing me of Egyptians legendary tolerance. I also strongly appreciate the remark on homosexuality, and I suggest you consult a psychiatrist to figure out if you are not one yourself. Not that there is anything wrong with that, except that you might end up being tortured if you live in Egypt.

you should go read your algerians’ people comments after the game to know why i am so angry, they called us jews, traitors and everythibg horrible you can imagine….you algerians come and say your shit and expect us to be cool and not disturbed with it and when we say anything about you, it is the end of the world!!!
ya 27′y if egypt is such a miserable and failure country and egyptians are such a bad people and egyptian football sucks, why do u care about it and make the effort to come here and comment!!!!
in case you read english,i said zaki and mido aren’t with the team.
and you read news about journalists and bloggers in prison and problems in egypt because of free press while you think everything is ok in other countries because there is no freedom of press and the governmennt control everthing.
and then you come and tell us what to show and what to not show, go mind your own business!!!
although i am not with using bad words and swearing, but i fully understand why sawy said that, you guys are intolerable.
end of story, you aren’t welcomed here, you and other algerians, so please piss off!!
i didn’t wish to say and i was saying all the stuff about brotherhood and being arab “brothers” that but your actions starting from jeering our national anthem till your comments here have led me to this.
Hey dude, you need to calm down a little bit.
1-I am not supporting anyone who insulted you.
2-The algerians jeering the Egypt was felt as a shame by me and everyone in my family. And in case you do not know, the algerians players have made several comments in the press for the supporters to not jeer your anthem. Including Belloumi.
3-Whats wrong with being a Jew ?
4-I am not saying Egypt is a failed country nor am I saying that egyptians are ______ (put your favorite insult..) What I said is that you guys are often arrogant. You do not need to go far to see it. Many Egyptians on your blog thought Algeria and Zambia would be a walk in the park. even former players and commentators have been disrespectful. Its not the first time, everyone in Africa is used by this behavior from you guys. Just like we are used of having the ALgerians jeering the national anthem. And its indeed a shame.
5-I gave Zaki as an example. You understood my point.
6- In case you did not realize, I have been critical of Algerians as well. Many algerians and egyptians are being immature, sawy is one of them , algerians jeering national anthem is one of them, and if we were more critical of ourself, instead of having tribal behaviors we would turn out better.
7-where do I say that everything is ok in other countries. You brought the egyptian press thing, I criticized it, and now you tell me why I do not criticize other countries ?????? Man your logic is fuzzy.
8- since I am not welcomed here, I will not make further comments, but I will add one more thing, do not put the morality garment, if you allow one dude like sawy insulting people’s mom and saying fuck this and fuck there. I did not swear, yet you caution his words and you criticize mine because they hurt your opinions. You allow violence, but not differing opinions.
Have a nice day.
