ENNPI trashes Algerian champions, proceeds to semi-final!!
So ENPPI turned the table and came from behind to qualify to the confederation cup’s semi final after trashing the Algerian champions ESS Setif in front of their fans.
The point of the post here isn’t that we were desperate for a victory over any Algerian side, we have done it many many times before, but it is about never giving up; ENPPI’s victory came at a time when they hadn’t the slightest hope of going through this group after they lost 3 matches out of 6, one of them was against the same Algerian team here in Cairo 4-3.
The Egyptian side entered the game with no option but winning and with a score while the Algerians would have been more than satisfied with a draw; conditions that are very similar to what we are experiencing with the national team now.
They didn’t give up and played in a “usual” hostile atmosphere to any Egyptian football side and had to endure the “usual” low class attitude from Algerian players and their continuous provocations and scored 3 well played goals and qualified by goal difference as the second of the group.
Another lesson from this game is that arrogance has very serious consequences; before the game Algerian fans said that they will score 6 or 7 goals, the usual trash they keep on saying ahead of any game against an Egyptian side, but they were shocked and came back to ground; Even the Algerian commentator said that.
what we need now is to focus on Zambia’s game and win it with the highest score possible and then our chances will be in our hands should we beat Algeria here in Cairo stadium, it isn’t that hard and ENPPI has just proved that.
Happy Eid everybody…enjoy it and don’t eat too much ka7k!!
