more than enough!
another 3 points added to us, 4 goals from amr zaki, ahmed hassan, hosni abd raboh, and ahmed eid abd el malek (again) were more than enough in a game in which our opponent wasn’t Djibouti but was the extreme weather conditions and the pitch.
the players said after the match that there wee shoes was going to melt, they felt the heat coming out of the tartan pitch which they described as unbearable. ahmed hassan said that he couldn’t stand on the ground because it was very hot as if he was bare footed. i don’t know if officials in djibouti are stupid or what, the stadium has lights and they didn’t play at night or even in the afternoon!!!.
i didn’t see 3/4 of the match because of broadcasting problems,so i can’t really describe the match or the performance except the part that i saw; rather than that i will depend on what i heard in the radio.
the fact that we couldn’t score until late in the first half beside the bad conditions didn’t help but to increase the pressure on the players and hassan shehata. but again amr zaki was the savior and scored from a header to relief us and the team.
in the second, everything was different except the weather. we scored from a penalty taken by hosni abd raboh; this goal means much to the best player in ghana 2008 who has gone through hell in the past two weeks, maybe this goal would help him psychologically to regain his self-confidence and consideration.
two minutes later, ahmed hassan scored but i don’t know how exactly he did it!!!
later, our new rising star ahmed eid abd el malek scored his second in two matches to make it 4-0 for us. after the goal, the players were exhausted and started to show-off and missed a couple of chances by shikabala and ahmed hassan.
the match was physically very hard, we came out with a lot of injuries. emad meteb was excluded before the match because of a neck injury and was replaced by mohamed fadl who came out injured in his ankle, also abd el aziz tawfiq came out injured. now the injuries list is very long, i hope hassan shehata can manage and i am sure he will.
the performance wasn’t the expected one but Egyptian players don’t excel in matches with small teams like Djibouti. we aren’t a type of team who can win 7 or 8 but we area team who can manage to beat the big boys like Cameroon, cote d’ivoire.
worth mentioning that this was the first away win for egypt in qualifiers since 2005 if we exclude ghana 2008!!
now the team will travel to Malawi for third match in the group.
