pre-final list, Ghaly’s exit, ahly’s crash and other stuff.

well, i planned to write in this blog mainly about Egypt’s list of players who will participate in Ghana, but events popped up very fast and made me obliged to talk about them. yesterday, hassan shehata chose 26 players to fly to abu dhabi to play against Mali in their second preparation match . the second event was hossam ghaly’s exit from the Egyptian camp to go to england and sign for derby county. third, the round of 32 of Egypt cup was played this week and it came up with an extraordinary surprise of el ahly crashing out of the cup in a dramatic way even their most pessimistic fan didn’t anticipate.

hassan shehata made his choices about the squad that will fly with him to UAE to play against Mali on the 10th of this month. he chose 26 players, this number will be reduced to 23 to make the final list of actual players who will show up in ghana. the players he chose are as following:
goal keepers: essam el hadary, Mohamed abd el monsef, Mohamed sobhy
defenders:shady Mohamed, wael gomaa,sherif abd el fadil, hani said, said moawad, mahmoud fathallah, tarek el sayed,ahmed fathi, osama mohamed, ahmed el mohamady
midfielders:hosny abd raboh,omar gamal,mohamed shawky,ahmed hassan,hassan mostafa,ahmed shabaan,walid seliman, abu trika
strikers:amr zaki, mohamed zidan, emad moteb, mohamed fadl
hassan shehata left in cairo ahmed samir,motasem salem and wael khalifa. while there are still doubts about Ibrahim said who is suffering from a knee injury and the percentage of his recovery before the kick off of the matches is very low. concerning mido, he is still working on his therapy program, however he has great chances of recovering but he will not be able to participate in full matches unless Egypt goes far in the tournament. another missing player is shikabala, after being given a ban or 6 months he was the center of doubts. shehata considers the player essential to the team thanks to his extra skills but up till now there was no confirmation from fifa that his ban is both local and international or local only; anyway, he hasn’t been training since receiving the ban and therefore he is no more fit for high-level matches. worth mentioning, that the final list will be submitted on the 10th of January.

ghaly’s exit

i don’t know what to say about hossam ghaly. since the famous incident of throwing tottenham’s shirt on the ground , ghaly became the most unliked person in the club and he hasn’t see football then. however hassan shehata chose him for qualifications matches and he scored, he also chose him for the Arab games which refreshed his professional football career again after being forgotten and he became the target for clubs again. all of a sudden the player engaged in negotiations with derby county and they were successful and it was agreed that he will go to england for only 2 days to sign for his new team and be back for the tournament. but the manager in derby county made a condition that he would stay with the team and don’t participate with the national team if he wanted to be a derby player.i am really confused, when i read that eto argues with Barcelona and that he insists on playing with Cameroon in Ghana-leaving his club for the national team-.on the other hand reading about ghaly who prefers the last team in the EPL table over his national team!!!

ahly’s crash
while everyone was busy following the news of the national team,under the shades, the matches of round 32 of Egypt cup were being held. all matches went as expected, but in assiout there was the biggest surprise -maybe of the season- when petrol assiout beat ahly-defending champions- 1/0 in a tragedy match for ahly fans who saw their team helpless against a second division team. the defeat has sparked speculations about jose -ahly’s manager- and his way of choosing players and the wrong strategies he implement on the team. after the match, he shouted at his assistant hossam el badry because he was giving statements for journalists saying ” i am the manager here not you”. ahly’s loss of the second championship this season after the champions league has raised problems of the age of the players and the over dependence on certain players, a thing which harm the future of the club. now,with ahly out the chance is in front of their city rivals zamalek to win their first title since 2004. so what will happen?????????

moawad controversies
sayed mowad ismaily’s back left signed for ahly for 1 million dollar making a record of his own as the most expensive player in the Egyptian league. the deal was opposed by ismaily’s board members and fans. they argue that the deal was made by el komy -ismaily president- in an individual decision which he asked no one about. we should know that there is a huge and old rivalry between the two clubs and one of its reasons is players transfers from ismaily to ahly. the question now is that, if el komy did this for the sake of the economical status of the club, why did he refuse zamalek’s offer although it was higher than ahly’s offer!!!!!!!!!
