Squad announced for “probable” game against Zambia!!
Yesterday Hassan Shehata announced the rest of the squad that is going to face Zambia on the 29th in Cairo after he previously announced last week the names of professionals outside Egypt chosen for the game.
The team started their preparation camp today in Cairo where they started to group and they are planned to head tomorrow to Alexandria for a closed camp for five days then return to Cairo for the game.
I was planning to write this post earlier but good thing that I waited as some serious stuff happened that may undermine the future of the game.
Today Al Ahram daily news paper published a story about a possible suspension decision by FIFA against the Zambian football federations on the background of governmental interference in its work.
The higher sports council in Zambia suspended Kalusha Bwalya, head of the football federation, on allegations of involvement in an illegal transfer of one player to an “Israeli team.”; for its part FIFA said it doesn’t consider any decision that would be taken by this federation legitimate neither is the decision to suspend Bwalya; however, the sports council said that there is no interference in the work of the federation but it was only an administrative decision against Bwalya on his person.
This situation sparks doubts about the game and whether it will be played or not because up till now we haven’t received a conformation on the time of the Zambian team arrival to Cairo nor have we received anything concerning postponing or cancelling the game!!!
Back to the roster:
Goalkeepers: Essam El-Hadary (Sion), Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed (Zamalek), Al-Hany Soliman (Ittihad), Mohamed Sobhi (Ismaily).
Defenders: Wael Gomaa, Ahmed Al-Sayed (Ahly), Hani Saied, Mahmoud Fathallah (Zamalek), Ahmed Samir Farag (Ismaily), Ahmed Al-Muhammadi (ENPPI), Mohsen Hendawi (Gaish), Ouka (Hodoud).
Midfielders: Ahmed Hassan, Ahmed Fathi, Mohamed Barakat, Mohamed Aboutrika (Ahly), Ahmed Khairy (Ismaily), Hosni Abd-Rabou (Ahly Dubai), Mohamed Shawky (Middlesbrough).
Strikers: Ahmed Eid (Hodoud), Amr Zaki, Mido (Wigan), Emad Meteb (Ittihad Jeddah), Mohamed Zidan (Dortmund).
Comments
-Shikabala is absent but I can understand Shehata’s decision not to call him now as he is still unsettled with Zamalek after the problems he had with the fans and the club; although he put up great performances in the last couple of games he still needs to show consistency if he is to return to the national team
-Sayed Mowad was left again due to lack of playing time with Al Ahly; we now have one experienced left wing, Ahmed Samir Farag, who has no equivalent replacement we can rely on in case anything happens.
-Amir Abd El Hamid wasn’t chosen after becoming a regular guest of the bench with Al Ahly for the Palestinian keeper Ramzy Saleh; Amir has shown very bad performances during his last games in the league which raised concerns about his ability to help the national team.
-Ismaily duo, Omar Gamal and Abdallah El Saeed were snubbed, but I can’t really find an explanation for this; especially for Omar Gamal as he has proven very valuable to his team.
- We can see that Shehata has gathered up all his force for the game in the attack line, let’s hope that they will do the job good enough
If you have other comments or different point of views, Feel free to discuss.
Anyway, charge your batteries because the fun is about to begin.

mahmoud: i agree eith most of your line-up,except that kahiry isn’t reliable yet so i would pur either shawky or hosni; aso, we can’t put zidan and abu trika at the same time we should put one of them preferably zidan and meteb and zaki in the front ilne then mido may caomeas a substitute
omar:i thought u were an ahly fan!!:)
i would put either mido or zaki with meteb to have different styles also as mahmouud mentioned , if barakat played on the left wing he won’t defend so farag would be a better option

Zambia National team coach, Herve Renard says he will not play names in Sunday’s 2010 World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt.

tamim i agree with you about khairy not being that reliable, but he has been great with ismaily all season, the other options are ahmed hassan who is good, but way to selfish and kills the team play, and shawky who isnt half the player he used to be befor he moved to boro, i think ghaly should have been called up, he would have been perfect next to hosni
as for zidan and trika not on the field at the same time, i thought they would be great together, remember the last 2 goals from the acn

i agree, but remember also ghaly isn’t the player he used to be since the shirt incident proof is that he is playing in saudi arabia now!!! so i would pick ahmed hassan (for his experience and leadership) and hosni.
as for zidan and treika, remember they did so when cameroon and cote d’ivoire rshed to attack and opened their defenses and gave them enough space.
this won’t happen in zambia’s match; they will close the area, zidan will play on the sides and the other striker will be lonely and highly man marked so their will be no efficency on goal!!

nice video Mo!!

mido and zidan train and play with each other tht chemistry is ultra rare and any ntl team wud kill for club team chemistry…so i wud strt them together…and i put barakat there cuz i wnt him to play and the only place i cud spare for him is left back…i no it doesnt suit him but i like to play the best players and right now shawky and barakat lucked out..so their on the starting 11 for lack of bttr players..i was an ahly fan until i moved to egypt now i fuckin hate ahly…if i had to pick a team it wud be zamalek..although im not nessairly a fan..more like shikabala fan

wow tht viedo is different and really good!

u moved to egypt, cool…..hope u r enjoying it:):)……so are u going to the stadium?

i think barakat is a great player, but we shouldnt have to rely on a player playing in a different position, its so sad that out of 80 million we dont have one good left back, our team right now would be so complete with mohamed abdelwahab allah yer7amo, hopefully sabri rahil developes into the left back that we need

Egpty is in for a rude shock this time. Zambia 3-Egpty-Singuluma, Mayuka, Chris Katongo to score. After the game fans will riot in Cairo.
