The End of Egyptian Football

If the South Africa game wasn’t enough for you, then this definitely will be. Egyptian thugs, and I won’t say Zamalek fans because I know enough Zamalek fans to tell you they aren’t responsible for the fiasco that happened, invaded the pitch in the dying minutes of the Zamalek-Club African match in the African Champions League. It was an inexplicable move as the referee was having a good game and the match wasn’t marred by enough controversy to end in this way.

Goodbye Football

Goodbye Football

Earlier during the game, the true Zamalek fans provided us with some spectacular banners showing support for our Tunisian brothers and thanking them for sparking the 25th of January Revolution. But all this turned out to be in vain after the disgrace that followed.

Who is responsible for this? Why in the world would anyone want to do this in the name of their country? Why isn’t there anything being done to the these thugs who are doing their best to ruin our country? Where is the army? When are they gonna draw the line? When are they gonna take a stand?

It was inevitable that something like this was going to happen with the army not being ruthless enough with the criminals. The question now is, are they going to act before it’s too late? or are they going to grab a seat and watch from the sidelines with us?

The Incident can be seen here

One last point, how, no, sorry, but the following sentence needs to be screamed out loud, HOW IN THE WORLD IS THIS MORON STILL NOT BANNED FROM ANYTHING SPORTS RELATED YET? OR EVEN MEDIA RELATED? OR ANY POSITION THAT REQUIRES A FULLY FUNCTIONAL BRAIN?

The idiot behind all this can be listened to here

Ibrahim Hassan, I can’t remember ever hating someone with a passion. Congratulations, you have made it. I hope you get banned/dismissed/sacked/humiliated for this.

Apology by the Egyptian Football Federation to Tunisia: Here.

Egyptian Prime Minister’s views: Here.

Photos of the disgraceful Event: Here.

Apologies to our Tunisian brothers once again. We hope this does not make you forget how much we value you and appreciate your influence on the 25th of January Revolution.

No need to apologize for something you did not do, granted i would feel ashamed too if it was the other way around but honestly most Tunisians know that most Egyptians strongly disapprove of this kind of unsportsmanlike behavior, we love you guys for standing by us during the recent/current events and we are brothers.

I as a Tunisian apologize in advance for any retributional acts some ignorant Tunisian football fans(i too will refrain from calling them CA supporters) might carry out, because let’s be honest you find stupidity everywhere and i bet there are some morons in Tunisia planning vengeance as we speak.

This is disgusting. I’m a Zamalek fan and I have to admit I had turned a blind eye to the twins’ antics given Zamalek’s recent success… but there is absolutely no excuse for this.

First, it was the comments about Tahrir Square, now it’s this. I don’t think I can support the club while these two clowns are associated with it. Not that I’ll get a chance to anyway, there’s no way the league will be restarted now…

My thoughts exactly nazim….. With freedom comes responsibility and also comes accountability and punishment none of which is present……..
The twins started talking about an Algerian ref and all this crap ……. Tunisians have been heroically helping Egyptian refugees coming from Libya ….. This should be a new north Africa ……they should should be ashamed of themselves and should have been banned a long time ago……
I read hossam Hassan was knocked out trying to protect Tunisian players is that true

I think the referee is fine Nazim, the stadium security were shaped like a human shield around him early on and left the pitch surrounding him.

Bahaa, thanks for the compliment. Hossam Hassan is trying to act like a hero, he didn’t do squat to save the CA players, I saw a couple of photos of the CA players being chased by moronic thugs and Hossam Hassan was no where to be seen.

From the pictures I’ve seen, some Zamalek players tried to help them out though. Ahmed Gaafar and Abu Kone in particular.

Hany how is the media in Egypt handling this disgrace? Are they covering it up or making excuses like they did with the Algerian bus attack or are they covering it as a national disgrace as they should? Or have the conspiracies started

I am disgusted! I hope Egypt gets a police that respects the rule of law and those responsible for this crap are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We have a long way to go! tragic

The media is apologizing non stop about the incident. They are not trying to find excuses. There are some conspiracy theories (bullshit ones) that nobody is falling for, we all saw what happened and it’s pretty clear who fueled it.

Hopefully it isn’t, but it’s definitely the end for this year though.

i dont think its the end i mean the football industry will suffer if the league was cancelled but its not the end …. as long as talanted players exisit there is a hope! ;) …..thats why i believe that tough punishments for hooligans should exisit that would even relegate a team for the behavior of the fans!
i kinda dont think that the “Hassan brotherhood” has a hand in this ,i think they are just aggresive and stupid and Ibrahim cant handel public relation (telling the Media “TOZ FEEKOM” isnt considered friendly). Hossam coaches with the mentality of a player not a coach! the ref.ing was excellent in this game however hossam cant find anything else to balme.
and by the way, What was the guy wearing a “Cottonil” boxer thinking he would do by hitting the ref.??? i found his facebook profile and the guy is Proud of it!

I can’t understand what possible reason there was for thugs to carry this out. First and foremost in their minds, they should remember that if it wasn’t for the Tunisian people, their Revolution would never have happened, and should be thoroughly grateful to such people.

As for the football, I think Hany is right, but it isn’t ending completely, it can be resuscitated, but it needs to be done soon, otherwise the once powerful footballing nation of Egypt will fall from grace quite quickly, and if it isn’t careful, could end up going away for a very long time like Morocco and Algeria did.

I do completely understand that after the Revolution, Football isn’t of the highest priority, and things can be left to slide, but I can’t see how this could have been motivated by anything to do with how the Revolution came about. This needs to be tackled fiercely by the authorities in Masr.

It was definitely shocking but the fact that the apologies were immediate and from all levels of Egyptian society has softened the blow a great deal. As a Tunisian and Club Africain fan, I can say that I appreciated that and the actions of the Zamalek players and fans who did their best to protect our players and the officials.

Well if they had the same logic as you Zakaria, they wouldn’t have been low life thugs in the first place. Nobody knows how they think, all we know is that they are useless and won’t be missed if they’re sent to prison to rot.

As for football, I have no idea how we’re going to move on after this. We need a LEADER in the football federation to put a well structured plan to put football back into people’s hearts (and priority list too). Samir Zaher is not that person I’m talking about.

Rami, I didn’t know you supported CA, I thought you were a Negm supporter.

@me

He actually did just that, its called incitement.

I really think that in order for the Egyptian football to recover, 4 characters have to be sidelined
Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan, Samir Zaher and Mourtada Mansour.

Nazim who is mortada mansour?

He is the Ex head of Zamalek, he is the one who introduced the term “Baltaga” to THE Zamalek.
He was against the revolution and called the youths, thugs and whore, and he is always creating drama, by suing this or suing that, and apparently he has a CD on every single Egyptian citizen.

I personally think that he was and still is one of Mubarak’s tools

I agree the twins should go and Zaher should have gone after the algerian fiasco….. But I think its more than that. Yes the twin idiots need to change the way they talk. Its a different egypt now there is no real security and the average joe doesn’t understand thier new found freedom “Freedom” yet.I hate to say this but until we have security back in order I really think the army needs to be a little more heavy handed with security. Not just in games but all over the countrty.

Hany, no I’m CA through and through since childhood. It’s just that I don’t exhibit hatred for other Tunisian sides and try to be fair in my assessment of each team so sometimes people can confuse me for one of their fans through my writing. When a Tunisian team is playing in an African competition, I always support them.

Mortada Mansour is the nastiest most vile person I have seen. Luckily he is likely to go to prison soon for incitement. He is a liar, a crook, a hatefull vindictive trashy person. I actually know more about him than what is presented in the media.
