Welcome home champions!!
today, the plane that carried the Egyptian champion team arrived at Cairo airport. millions were waiting for them outside and happiness was every were. egypt achieved more than the title so welcome home champs
today, i had a second thought about the tournament and Egypt’s victory and i thought WOW….just WOW. how did we do it?, is this a real Egyptian team with Egyptian players?.the answer was yes. actually, people aren’t believing themselves. holding your second consecutive cup in the African cup of nations is something really really big even more if you think of the names we played against.
the reception was as great as the achievement. thousands went to the airport from the sunrise to cheer for the champion team. the plane arrived at 9:30 and the players were received by president hosny mubarak and they took pictures with him. after that, they went out to the fans who closed the roads around and after the bus for hours saluting the team.
the achievement wasn’t on the team level only but at the individual level as well. beside the title, hosni abd raboh won best player in the tournament. essam el hadary won best goal keeper prize, abutreka won man of the match and mohamed zidan won best goal in the tournament for his 2nd goal against cameroon in the first round. 5 egyptian players were selected in the african team: el hadary, hani said, wael gomaa, ahmed fathi, amr zaki, abo treika and hosni abd raboh.
now let’s enjoy these pictures.

Tamim can you make your next blog entry about a summary of what the Egyptian team went through during this tournament from start to finish to accomplish this. What they had to face in regards to missing several training sessions and the hotel problem and so on…
