Winter transfer season: The financial crisis effect!!
Ok, I am exaggerating a little bit but the winter transfer market this has been very slow compared to last summer both with professionals and in the domestic league or even with players to Europe
Basically the financial crisis can never have an effect on Egyptian clubs because hey are all state owned or owned by companies the government has a majority holdings in it.
So, It is either all clubs are satisfied with what they got which I doubt or there is no cash which I may believe to a certain extent or there is no talent impressing enough.
Anyway let’s get to the point
Professionals in Europe
Amr Zaki
After his great performance at the start of the season, sky started to rain offers for his services but an injury kept him away for a while so the goal machine broke down but got back to work couple of weeks a go.
At the end of the first half, Zamalek has none but one offer from wigan to make a permanent deal for Amr instead of the current loan contract.
This maybe explained in Amr inexperience in Europe, so clubs may want to wait if he is consistent or what.
So Amr is staying in wigan, until the end of the season at least.
Mido
Had a great start but injuries hit him again but he failed to impress since his recovery.
Before the season’s debut, there were rumors that mido may move to wigan but they were just rumors; now mido is said to lave either for wigan or even a return to Olympique Marseille in France!!
But they are still just rumors and I don’t think or recommend that mido leave Middelsbrough after he built a reputation there or even leave the whole EPL!!
Hossam Ghaly
It is a simple as that; Ghaly didn’t play a single minute this season at Tottenham and reports linked him with Middelsbrough and Portsmouth especially after he was going to play finally but this happened.
If u don’t know what is going on; last season ghaly entered during one of the games and was substituted after 20 minutes he got out angry and threw the club’s shirt on the ground
Ghaly apologized for the fans again; also the coach and other players asked the fans to have patience on him.
He should make his mind up because he can’t waist a whole season like this; he can go anywhere but the most important thing is to play
Emad Meteb
Shining with Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia; however the club is having other plans as they are planning to buy a South America professional and give meteb a green light to leave thee club.
Most probably he will be back at Al Ahly but there were offers from Everton so let’s just wait and see what happens!!
El Hadary
This is the biggest surprise of the transfers, the best goal keeper in Africa will return to Egypt from Sion of Switzerland but he is heading to Ismaily….!!!
The previous Ahly legend is now returning to play against their worst rivals!! They are still negotiating but by all means he won’t return to Al Ahly especially after the club’s president announced his refusal of Hadary’s return.
-Amir Azmy Megahed moved to Aek of Cyprus
Domestic transfers
After the world cup failure, they are considering rejuvenating the club so they may get rid of some players and buy others but they didn’t announce anything yet; most probably the new players will be unknown talents.
What is for sure is that Angolan player Gilberto may leave to Europe; specifically to England.
They are getting rid of a lot of players like: Wessam El Abdy (moved to Esperance of Tunisia), Alaa Abd El Ghani, Amr Adel, Ayman Abd El Aziz (moving back to turkey) and they are considering selling Abd El Monsef to Ismaily but nothing was confirmed yet.
They also said they are buying 3 new players but they didn’t specify names.
Potential moves to Europe
NONE!!
Ahmed Eid Abd El Malek had an offer from Stuttgart in Germany but there are no news about what happened next.
I will update if anything worthy erupts

Every one of us has been affected by the economic crisis. It seems everywhere you turn you hear horror stories caused by this economic turmoil.
